Remove bad smells from the fridge naturally
Does it smell like cheese or old melon? Neutralize odors without chemicals.
Recommended Materials
- Baking soda
- Cup
- White vinegar (to clean)
Steps to follow
Step 1
Step 1: Find the source. Before deodorizing, the cause must be eliminated. Check expiration dates, forgotten vegetables at the bottom of the bin, poorly packaged cheese or spilled sauce. Throw away what is rotten.
Step 2
Step 2: The big cleaning. Empty the fridge. Clean all walls and shelves with a sponge soaked in pure white vinegar. Vinegar kills odor-causing bacteria and cleans without toxic chemicals.
Step 3
Step 3: The drain hole. At the bottom of the fridge, at the bottom of the rear wall, there is a small gutter with a hole to drain condensation water. Often this hole becomes clogged with crumbs and mold, and the water stagnates and stinks. Unclog it with a toothpick or cotton swab.
Step 4
Step 4: The odor absorber (Bicarbonate). Place a small dish or ramekin filled with 3 tablespoons of Baking Soda on a shelf in the fridge. Bicarbonate has the chemical property of capturing and neutralizing odors (it does not mask them, it eliminates them). Stir the powder occasionally. Change it every month.
Step 5
Alternatives: If you don't have baking soda, you can use dry coffee grounds (in a cup), half a lemon studded with cloves, or a piece of activated charcoal.
