Clean your glasses without scratching them
Stop wiping them with your t-shirt! This is the #1 cause of micro-scratches.
Recommended Materials
- Dishwashing liquid
- Lukewarm water
- Microfiber cloth (clean)
- Glasses spray (optional)
Steps to follow
Step 1
Pre-rinsing (Crucial): NEVER rub your glasses dry if they are dusty. The dust contains micro-particles of silica (sand) which will scratch the glass instantly. First run your glasses under a stream of lukewarm water to wash away particles.
Step 2
Cleaning with dishwashing liquid: Put a very small drop of degreasing dishwashing liquid on each glass (inside and outside). Rub gently with the pads of your (clean) fingers, making circles. Don't forget the nose pads and temples where sebum accumulates.
Step 3
The final rinse: Rinse with plenty of lukewarm water to remove all the foam. Warning: the water must not be hot, this could damage the surface treatments (anti-reflective, anti-blue light) through thermal shock.
Step 4
Drying: Shake the glasses to remove large drops. Wipe gently with a SPECIAL optical microfiber cloth (clean) or a very soft cotton fabric (old t-shirt washed 100 times).
Step 5
WHAT NOT TO DO: Never use paper towels, tissues, toilet paper or paper towels. They are made from wood fibers which scratch glasses. Also avoid your worn t-shirt (dust, synthetic fibers).
