Create a 'Leaving home' scenario to turn everything off with one click
Stop going around the house to check the lights. One button, and it's done.
Recommended Materials
- Home automation box or App (Google Home, Home Assistant)
- Connected objects (Lights, Sockets, Thermostat)
Steps to follow
Step 1
The concept: In the morning, we are in a hurry. We run everywhere to turn off the bathroom light, check on the children's lights, turn down the heating... With home automation, we create a 'Scenario' (a series of actions) which is executed with a single gesture.
Step 2
Prerequisites: You need a home automation box (or just an app like Google Home, Apple Home or Alexa) and connected objects (bulbs, sockets, thermostat, shutters).
Step 3
Creating the 'I'm leaving' scenario: In your application, create a new routine/automation. Trigger: 'When I say goodbye' OR 'When I press the entry button'. Actions: 1. Turn off all lights. 2. Turn off the multimedia sockets (TV, standby). 3. Switch the thermostat to 'Eco' or 'Away' mode. 4. Close the ground floor shutters. 5. Activate the alarm.
Step 4
The physical button: To make it practical for the whole family (even those who don't have the app), stick a small wirelessly connected button (Zigbee or Bluetooth type) near the front door. One click when leaving, and the house goes to sleep by itself.
Step 5
The 'I'm going home' scenario: Create the opposite. Trigger: 'When I arrive' (geolocation) or 'When I open the door'. Actions: Turn on the entrance light, return the heating to Comfort mode, open the shutters.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I forget to press ?
Use geolocation (Geofencing). Configure the app to check if all family phones have left the home area. If so, it launches the 'Departure' scenario automatically or sends you a notification to suggest it.
Precautions
- Do not turn off the fridge or the internet box in the scenario!
- Test the scenario several times.
