Removing pet hair from sofa, carpet and clothes
You love your cat/dog but less its hair everywhere? The vacuum cleaner is not always enough. Here are the tips that stick.
Recommended Materials
- Rubber household glove
- Window squeegee
- Adhesive roller
- Old nylon tights
Steps to follow
Step 1
The dishwashing glove (The absolute weapon): It is the most effective and cheapest trick. Put on a rubber household glove (Mapa type). Wet it very slightly. Rub the sofa fabric, carpet or cat tree in circles. Static electricity combined with the rubber texture will agglomerate the hair into large balls easy to pick up by hand.
Step 2
The window squeegee: For short-pile rugs or carpet, pass a window squeegee (dry) on the floor. The rubber blade pulls out embedded hair that the vacuum cleaner cannot suck up. It's impressive what you collect.
Step 3
Old tights: Put old nylon tights on your hand or on the broom brush. Static electricity attracts hair like a magnet.
Step 4
Damp sponge: On black clothes or coats, a clean and new sponge (yellow side), slightly moistened, passed in the direction of the fabric, removes cat hair well.
Step 5
In the wash (Machine and Dryer): Put a tennis ball or a silicone hair catcher disc in the washing machine (it beats the laundry and loosens the hair). The ultimate tip: put hair-covered clothes in the dryer (cold air cycle 10 min) BEFORE washing them. The powerful breath loosens the hair which goes directly into the dryer filter.

Prevention ?
Brush your animal! It's the basis. During shedding season (spring/autumn), brush it every day outside. Everything on the brush won't go on the sofa.
Precautions
- Do not use too powerful tape on fragile fabrics (velvet).
- Check washing machine filters often.
